My Actifit Series: Android Version Updates [Episode Two]

Introduction

Hello guys, I’m once here again on the series in regards to the Actifit decentralized blockchain. In my last episode on this series, I made an introduction to the platform. I spoke on the first Android version. Hence, due to the fact that the platform has made a lot of updates, I would be precise. And of course, every image and logo still goes with the version on the table.

In this platform, I would be talking on the various versions made on the android device. But in order not to be too lengthy, I would not cover all at once. This post will also explain the various problems with the updates and the additions made to them.

ACTIFIT VERSION 0.2

In the early moments of July, the Actifit team came up with a new update due to complaints from the users. These complaints were more on the first Android version, 0.1 which had many issues. Among these issues was the problem of an error notification. A lot of users noticed this and it was hence, brought to the table in the discord chat.

The problem was in a form that came after you had finished recording your steps for the day. You decide to post your step count to the Steem platform and hence, the notification pops up. At times, one may have to try it more than four times before it was finally submitted. Many saw this as a big problem for them and blamed it on their devices.

Another problem that the users reported was the step counts. They said that it wasn’t counting well due to different reasons. One could make use of the app and after nine steps, you could be seeing only one. A lot of people noticed this and the matter was also presented to the team. At last, the team looked into it and came up with the Version 0.2 update. It came with these features:

A. Activity Choice:

The OS Version 0.2 came with a new look having fixed the issues and bugs which presented problems. This new version presented a chance for one to select the activity he/ she had featured in. The first version was set to walking as default. But in this, one could select from the list of different activities as shown below.

B. New Default Title:

Another feature which was then added to this version was the new title. This title was in a form that every post made was set to default with “My Actifit Report Card” as the topic. Right beside it was also the date on which you made that submission. This was to ensure that every post of Actifit followed a beautiful pattern. This could also then shine out the former scattered pattern of posting.

C. Leaderboard List:

Finally was the leader-board list which was then included to the app. This was a very good and wonderful update on the platform. It helped people know those also included in this blockchain and how they have fared. It could as well bring out the spirit of competition in the users to ensure you were being included there.

ACTIFIT VERSION 0.3

With the updates made in the Actifit android version 0.2 and the fixing of the bugs, it developed the platform. The Actifit platform yet wasn’t ready to remain at its level. Hence, the developers came up with another update. This was the version 0.3 which also came along with added features and a better look. These features were:

A. Aggressive Background Tracking:

This was a new development which was actually missed in version 0.2. It was due to the fact that a lot of users complained of the app not counting their steps when locked. This was then added. You will agree that there are different kind of devices with various OS too. For this reason, the app wasn’t functioning the same way on every device.

The Aggressive Background Tracking known as the ABT was being added to counter this bug. When your device was screen-locked, it still counted the steps no matter the settings or grades of your OS.

B. Wallet Introduction:

With the new looks on the app, the wallet support was hence introduced for the users' benefit. The way it is on the Steem platform where you could see your balance, earnings, and transactions. It was also done same way on the Actifit platform with the not complete resemblance.

Now, people could see their Actifit Token balances and the transactions they performed. This information could be hence gotten immediately. All you did was to insert your Steemit username in the space provided. After you had clicked on the check balance button, the details came up.

C. Lock Screen Notification:

Another new feature added then was the ability for one to see a notification on a locked screen. In the other versions, this wasn’t included but the developers made this possible. As I had said earlier, the updates were actually made to combat the issues on the app but also for a new look. Hence, this particular feature added a new look to the app.

ACTIFIT VERSION 0.3.1

With the constant development on the Actifit platform, they still had some challenges. Of course, it doesn’t take a day for a seed to be a tree. Also is it for the Actifit app as they had to combat their problems.

The Actifit developers created this new version due to the reports they had received. They had to combat these reports to provide the best for them. This update has the 0.3.1 tag due to the fact it was hence done in a rush and for satisfaction purpose.

A. Sound Notification Removal:

Some of the reports were being based on the fact that the app produced a sound on step recording. This was a problem for users as it interfered with either music playing or another app in use. Hence, a complaint was then raised and the update was hence made without the sound.

B. Text Entry Problems:

Some users made a report to the Actifit discord channel based on the problem they faced on posting. They reported that whenever they made an entry, the text came in a disturbing flow though it was minimal. This wasn’t minimal to the developers as they brought that to notice and included it when making the update.

C. Scrolling Issues:

When scrolling on the 0.3.0 app version, another problem was then noticed. The scrolling in the text area was a problem as it didn’t function in a smooth manner. Also, this was among the addition they included to the update.

Conclusion

The Actifit platform still went on with their updates and correction to a lot of issues. This is one good thing about the Actifit team. With every report or complaint on their app, they made sure that they had an update. Hence, the problems became minimal as they looked forward to more updates.

Thus this particular version was then done for an update. It was hence made as well in concerns to various issues they had received from users. The version was being made also to correct some mistakes they had made on the various versions. Aside from this, the Actifit team came up with a discussion on the discord server and a decision was then made.

This issue which was at that raised was on the previous versions. They were still available for download on the Google Play Store. They said that the versions were no longer necessary and they can decommission them. Hence, they decommissioned all below the Android Version 0.3.3 introduction.

Hence, when someone wanted to post using any of them, they got an error message. For this reason, every user who got this kind of message on his/her app had to go to the Google Play Store. There, they could download the latest version.

While all these rode by, the team also introduced the Actifit IOS Version. They also made some other additions which I would include in the next episode. Thus, I drop my pen here. Let’s keep up the good fitness with the various activities on the platform.
