Played Atlantean Aggro Magic for several hours today. Much fun and good performance. Sharing what I've learned + 3 videos.

The Deck

Features of the deck: a ton of ward, afterlife damage, and boost. This is an enhanced version of my pre-WW Atlantean Aggro Magic.

What is better than ward when Meta is full of OP creatures?

Avalanche Watcher. When you need to fight for the board control (against aggro Light, for example), you can play it as a low-mana minion with 2/3 or 3/4. Sometimes, you urgently need to buff Volcanic Watcher or Oni - in this case, you can drop Avalanche Watcher with not much mana available.

2 Avalanche Watchers, one of them played early as 2/3 to win a battle for the board control against Amazons. (I won the match).

At the same time, when you need a big guy, you can play Avalanche Watcher late and get 5/6, 6/7, 7/8 version. Love it!

Backline helps much to keep Avalanche Watcher fresh behind a mob of low-mana creatures.

In my deck, Avalanche Watcher often has ward thanks to 2 Phase Touched Golem and 2 Oni Spellsword:

Here, I preferred dropping Avalanche Watcher together with Phase Touched Golem so it is only 2/3 - sometimes, this is the best choice

Other cards

This time, I decided to exclude Undertow Rover - weak, can't buff itself, and buff only 1 random creatures per turn.

Instead, I include 2 Sentinel Princess:

A good one in the early game or when you already gathered a crowd on the board including Phase Touched Golem or Oni.

Scuttler Sentry, Time-Bomb, Theoretical Thaumaturge (8 creatures with echoes): afterlife-damage creatures, when you have many, are powerful against aggro decks. They are a great way to stop hidden ones. Low-mana minions (including echo Frenetic Bibliomaniac) also buff Volcanic Watcher and Oni Spellsword and can receive boost from Stormfield. Besides, they defend backline Avalanche Watcher.

I added Guild Enforcers to the deck and its performance significantly grew. Alas, Blade of Whiteplain can kill it but I don't see an alternative.

I also want to mention Volcanic Watcher I praised in my last posts. I confirm: a fantastic card!

I only tested the deck in Casual mode since I am in Ethereal Diamond currently and want to be sure that I am going to start WR there to have good chances for winning a WW pack. But I think the discussed deck is at least fine for playing in Solar, probably (I hope higher as well). I will try it in ranked matches after finishing WR.

Secret of Avalanche Watcher

There are cards that remove creatures from the board to the hand or the deck. Then, you play these cards again. You know what happens to Avalanche Watcher in this case? This was what 2 A Toast To Peace made with it:

Experience

This a good sign when a deck sometimes beats opponents with expensive cards - this is what I sometimes had with my Atlantean decks before WW set released. Today, I had such a victory too, against Magic with Demos and Pallas' Wand:

But even a better sign when you win standard decks without the help of luck - this is what I regularly experienced playing Atlanteans with Avalanche Watchers. Look how Avalanche Watcher makes a win against Aggro Light:

Conclusion

I feel enthusiastic. 🙂 My hopes about Avalanche Watcher have already come true. My old Atlantean Aggro Magic deck had flaws, like, it didn't work well against aggro decks. Avalanche Watcher is what it took to fix this. If this archetype is not Meta yet (tests in ranked matches are needed to know), then I can definitely say that it has become much closer to this status.
