Personally, I've never been in a place on my own; I've always had at least one roommate to keep me company, and we usually liked to keep the place tidy; it was honestly more comfortable that way. That said, I don't really like to cook, so the foodstuffs I kept were the ones that were most easily prepared, cooked, and cleaned. The quicker the better.
