Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts (Proverbs 4:23) GNB
The heart is the center of all thoughts. The King James Bible version of the opening scripture, says, “Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life”.
The Bible therefore gives the believer a pictorial insight of the heart. The issues of life are headquartered in the heart and all decisions that affect the affairs of life are made with the heart.
It is like a centralized governance of a corporate institution where decisions are made at the main office of the institution and streamlined to the Satellite offices. When the main office is poised with irrational decisions, it adversely affects the other offices and leads to operational breakdown of services.
In the same vein, the Holy Scripture counsels the believer to be careful of his thinking approach because it entirely affects his life. The life of the believer is carved by his thoughts and until the believer thinks in sync with the word of God, he might live subpar to God’s perfect will for him.
God wanted to change the thinking of Abraham as He was about endowing the whole world to him. He took him out to count the stars and challenged him, that, “As far as his eyes can see, that has been given to him”
Paul now wrote to the Philippian church on the importance of thinking right. He said in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
