When I have little time but want to relax with my pastels anyway, I sometimes resort to the works of other painters for reference. The advantage is, I don't have to plan how to simplify a scene as it's done "for me" already.
I only have to figure out which changes I'd like to make, and how to replicate the effects of the reference (usually oil or acrylics) with oil pastels. While that presents a challenge in its own right, it still saves time and I learn a lot in the process.

Wenn ich wenig Zeit habe, mich aber trotzdem mit meinen Ölpastellkreiden entspannen möchte, greife ich manchmal auf die Bilder anderer Maler zurück. Der Vorteil ist, dass ich nicht planen muss, wie ich eine Szene vereinfachen kann, da das bereits "für mich" erledigt wurde.
Ich muss mir nur überlegen, welche Änderungen ich vornehmen möchte und wie ich die Effekte der Vorlage (in der Regel Öl- oder Acryl) mit Ölpastellkreiden nachahmen kann. Das ist zwar eine Herausforderung für sich, aber es spart dennoch Zeit und ich lerne viel neues dabei.
