"I love where you chose to build our stables, Henry. I can't imagine that Heaven could be much better," said a middle aged woman, as she saddled a tall, slender chestnut gelding.

"I love it too, Linda. I do wish that the beach wasn't rocky, so the horses could gallop. But other than that, it's perfection," agreed Henry, as he adjusted the halter on his eager young quarter horse. He laughed as the gelding started to prance in place.

"That's true, but if it was sand instead of rocks, we never would have been able to afford it. And there would be houses all over the place," Linda reminded him.

"Yes, the pastures are perfect for both galloping and grazing. And the beach is perfect the way it is," he agreed with a smile.

"Except I would rather our four legged friends not stroll around out there on their own. Shall we go see if they're ready to come home?" Linda suggested, as she expertly swung herself into the saddle.

"I believe so. I'm especially anxious to get Starling and her colt back here. The ponies are pretty resourceful, but Starling doesn't know her way around yet. I hope she's with Oreo and Apache," Henry replied with a small frown.

Seconds later, he was in the saddle, astride his grey dappled quarter horse.

The couple set out to look for the four missing horses, and soon found their tracks.

"I think they probably went over to the place just beyond the little cove. You know, where the sun hits the strongest, and there's some soft sand to stand on?" Henry asked, leading his quarter horse up onto the quiet dirt road.

"I think so too. The road will be faster, now that we know where to look," Linda replied as she guided her tall chestnut gelding up towards Henry.

A few minutes later, they looked down the gentle slope. "Well there they are, all together and safe," smiled Henry as his agile horse picked his way amongst the rocks.

With a sigh of relief, he dismounted and handed a single sugar cube to each horse before getting back in the saddle, and quietly leading the wayward horses home.

I decided that such a peaceful spot was just meant for horses. And of course, they needed a place to stay. So I gave them a barn, and some pastures. Thanks so much @redheadpei for making that a reality :) ...
