There are many ways to get one's story out in the public - majority is done through various media like newspaper, radio, and television interviews. My father Francis William Godon has had many different interviews but many of them just touch on who he is and what he had gone through. I want to use this platform to inform and put out his life story of what happened to him before the war, during the war, and after the war.
In future stories I hope to show how his earlier years growing up will explain how he survived the ordeals of D-Day and the POW camps and the trauma of trying to fit in after the war while suffering with PTSD and alcoholism which he overcame to be the successful man he is today.
This is my first attempt at any blog, or writing and I welcome any suggestions to help make the stories more interesting and to be able to bring out what we want people to understand about my father, the war, and the effects on soldiers after the wars.
