Post Rock Re-invent:
So the definition of Post Rock has changed completely from before, that no rock becomes available, and riffs and chords are also often used. Post Rock now uses the Quiet / Loud formula, Build up Crescendo, and rarely uses verse-chorus-verse, usually the music builds up the momentum that ends with a climax.
Interestingly, this formula is merely the basis of the composition. so many new bands that integrate the elements of classical, jazz, electronica, math, metal, etc. Post Rock is finally getting diverse and formed sub2 genre in it. But still use the basic formula. And Post Rock does not mean instrumental, many also wearing vocals. Whether used as an instrument or pure vocals.
There are eight bands that I think are the foundation and develop / expand the essence of Post Rock:
- Mogwai: Quite / loud
- Godspeed You! Black Emperor: Crescendo
- A Silver Mt Zion: Cinematic
- Do Make Say Think: Jazz
- Explosions in The Sky: Twinkle Guitar
- Mono (japan): Texture Guitar
- Sigur Ros: Ambient
- Soundscape Rachel's: Classical
And some modern bands that incorporate new elements into Post Rock:
- 65Daysofstatic: Electronica, Math Rock
- Samuel jackson Five: Jazz, Krautrock
- Russian Circles: a blend between Post Rock and Post Metal
- Destroyalldreamers: Shoegaze
- Hammock: Ambient Drone
