Hello everyone! This is @ybanezkim26 and I'll present today's edition of Travel Digest. In our featured posts, we have some landscapes in Reykjahlid, Iceland, a coast in Corse, France and a beach in Las Mezquitas, Spain. Enjoy and keep on pinning your travel posts to the map!
From the monochrome world of the dormant Hverfjall crater we move closer to the heart of the Krafla volcanic system, which still breathes. This is a place of contrasts, where sulfur鈥憏ellow, mineral鈥憆ich ground meets black, still steaming lava. The most recent, well鈥慿nown series of eruptions happened in 1975 to 1984 and is known as the Krafla Fires. I wrote briefly about that in the post on the V铆ti crater and the Krafla power station. So the lava fields around us are - in volcanic terms - very fresh. Of all the small trips around Lake M媒vatn, the hike to Leirhnj煤kur was my favorite. If I come back to this area, I鈥檒l definitely get to know its paths better.

In 2018, we had just bought our sailboat and, on this June morning, the day was breaking, revealing a view of Corsica. The view from the sea, after our first night of sailing, was breathtaking. We forgot the fatigue of the night and enjoyed the landscape as we slowly approached, in rhythm with the morning wind. After Calvi, we would head south, exploring the west coast of the island of beauty. Our final destination for this first nautical summer was Tunisia, but as it was still early June, we took the time to savor the journey.

Our journey to Alicante was filled with excitement. Traveling with family always has its challenges, but it also multiplies the joy. When we first arrived at Muchavista, I was struck by its size. The beach stretched for more than six kilometers, wide and open, framed by golden sand and a horizon that seemed to go on forever. Unlike other beaches that feel crowded and hectic, Muchavista felt expansive and generous. There was always enough space to spread out our towels, set up an umbrella, and feel as if we had our own piece of paradise.
