Hi Photo community!
After my little rant 4 weeks ago things turned around very positive. The exchange of ideas with the community really helped me to get my vision back and also the motivation to work harder than ever on the PhotoFeed project.
Contests
After 8 months of daily curation we have now also successfully implemented our new contest feature which is doing incredible well. The engagement is honestly the highest I've seen since we are here on the Hive Blockchain.
Also the implementation of the Prizepool tip system worked very well so far on our first 3 rounds. Only in the last round we were able to provide a prizepool of 30 Hive which is pretty impressive in my eyes.
The only thing which I'm not sure of yet is the voting system for our winners. The issue here is that people who enter the contest after a few days may have a disadvantage to the people who entered the contest in the first days. What do you guys think about it?
More features
A few minutes ago I created an idea_channel on our Discord server where we can brainstorm about new features and ideas for the PhotoFeed project. Unfortunately the traffic on the server is extremely low and I hope people will be more active there in the near future.
Potential ideas from myself:
- More regular interviews (So far I've done 1 Interview which took me almost 2 full days.)
As I've never done any interviews in my life it was quite challenging tbh. The solution could be hiring someone or to just prepare 10 questions for all types of different photographers and publish them every 2 or 4 weeks. - What do you guys think about it?
- Photo Editing Contest - Provide weekly 1 RAW file which will be published for a weekly editing contest.
- Critique the community - 1 weekly post where users can post their images and get critique/feedback from the community & professional photographers
- Reviews Feature people who review Camera gear or software
Photofeed Community
We have just archived a milestone 1 day ago - 1000 follower in our Photofeed Community - Yay! But there is one problem - No one is actually posting there (max. 5 posts a day) 🙃
"Competing" with a community with no whale support seems pretty impossible on hive. I will still try to push it further somehow. What I personally can do is - Only posting in this community with my private
