It’s easy to argue that the Amalfi coast is the most beautiful and perfect vacation destination and one of the most breathtaking places in all of Europe! It has incredible views, great food, reasonable prices. a stunning and warm ocean and pleasant people.
How do you like that for a view...?
After driving down from Austria and having spent a night in Bologna and in Tuscany, we got to our final destination: The Amalfi coast. We spent 3 nights there in an awesome Airbnb. The first day was a chill day, the second was a fantastic boat ride and the third was dedicated to exploring.
This gives you an idea of our drive and of where the Amalfi coast is located
Marie’s (my girlfriend's) mom had been wanting to go to this place for a long time and she invited us to tag along a few months ago and boy am I glad we did… The Amalfi coast is somewhere in the middle of Italy, on the west side. It consist of many bigger and smaller cities, most notably: Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Pompeii and Capri (an island).
VERY happy that we tagged along!
Bologna and Tuscany were incredibly awesome too as you can see here: https://steemit.com/travel/@world5list/from-bangkok-to-amsterdam-to-austria-to-italy-all-in-2-weeks
But the Amalfi coast was a legit piece of paradise. We had an awesome and affordable Airbnb in a city called Sorrento, that looked like it was staged to be sold. We were the first people there and the second day that we were gone, we came home to a clean home, a bottle of Limoncello in the freezer and 2 bottles of homemade jam on the kitchen table. The owners were just lovely!
I’ll let the pictures do the talking from here but if you have any questions about this place as a vacation destination, or about the Airbnb we stayed in then feel free to ask me cause I’ll gladly elaborate!
This was standard in the little town that we stayed in. We walked this street every day. Look at their faces...
The most excessive speed bump I have ever seen!
Taken during the 45 minute drive from Sorrento to Positano
I don't personally handle heights too well, but the driver sure did, judging from how he was barreling down the hills. This gives you an idea of how close you drive to the edge... Taken FROM the bus!
Another great picture from the drive.
Once you are down there, it doesn't get any less beautiful.
Drinks are reasonably priced in most places and often come with awesome free snacks!
Of course we had to get ON and IN the water too... The water is REALLY clear and very nice to swim in!
But swimming THERE (an awesome spot called the blue cave) is NOT allowed
The balcony (which was twice the size as shown in the picture), where we would wind down every day after a long day of "work"
