that which
we all wear
upon the face
the masque
to hide
our truest selves
from the rest
who they
also in theirs
hide away
sharing
only what leaks
through,
slight cracks
in the surface
walking away
from them
with little
to nothing
to hold onto
clandestine
hidden
secretive wonders
may lay
beyond
the masque
but there may
also be
darkness
so the masques remain
and the secrets retained
