from somewhere far above
there is a sudden jolt
and a sound
shaking, bending the earth
and us on it,
and a light, it seems to grow
slowly at first, a dot in the distance,
it is approaching
and as it does,
the sky it sparks
silver, shining,
and these sparks
turn to colors,
rainbows of light
exploding outward
and a dimension
beyond this one
is somehow visible
beyond the horizon
liquid, shifting
as if a mirage
a gate
to a place beyond
