One of the best parties I've been to was a wedding party - my wedding. It wasn't exactly what I wanted but it was way less cringe and chaotic than I imagined it would be. I've been to a lot of Nigerian parties especially Nigerian weddings and one thing that's peculiar to them all is the chaos.
I actually went to a wedding yesterday after a long while and the chaos made me appreciate how mine went even more. The best part about my wedding was having people I care about around me. There weren't many random people I had no idea who they were, it wasn't overcrowded and I didn't get an anxiety attack.
My husband and I basically called the shots at our wedding even if it was actually our parents' wedding. I could care less about a ceremony 馃槃 I didn't have to do any stupid dance routine or play any imposed game which are not my thing. I don't like it when a couple looks uncomfortable at their wedding which is the case in many weddings I've been to.
I was very comfortable and at ease which was very satisfying because planning the wedding was mentally draining. At the end of the day, everyone was happy with the party and although I wouldn't have cared about negative opinions, I was pleased people had nice things to say (well, except the very random people who weren't invited and now don't speak to my mum anymore 馃槃).
loved my outfit so much and didn't want to take it off because I looked regal
A memorable part of that day was strolling into a restaurant that evening and having people doubt that we really got married hours before. We didn't look the slightest bit stressed and we looked like we were having a fun night, that's because it really was a fun night/weekend.
