I went outside to take a look at how our trees were doing . We planted them last year around this time . The winter was harsh . A little water and tree food to help them along .
This Cardinal followed me around the yard . I finally took its picture . It then flew off the second the picture was taken . I think it just wanted its time in the spotlight on Steemit .
These two trees are doing good . The one thing here that you have to have are trees close to the house . They provide shade from the sun . The trees help reduce the amount of electrictricity used due to the air conditioning having to cope with the summer heat . Otherwise the sun will turn the house into an oven causing the air conditioning to run constantly. The second reason is that they provide a good wind block . The wind here on the plains do wipe up .
This one is not looking to good. Its is the most important one . It sits in the middle of the west side of the house . In that position it would cover the majority of that side .Being on the west side helps because that's the direction the worst of the weather comes from . I am hoping that it is still dormant and will snap to life here shortly .
I would like to tell you what type of tree they are but I have no idea. All I know is that they are supposed to grow 40 ft tall with a spread of 30 ft . That might not be right but close . :)
Now this one here is a grower . In the past couple of days if grew 1 foot . This tree is a Catalpa Tree . A couple years ago we plantented one in the front . It has to be 25 ft tall now. This one we planted just a little to the east of the bigger one .
Once we get the front flower garden done and things get a little greener I take some pictures of the front of the house .
