:DD the end
I'm actually trying really hard to get myself together and try starting to produce music at the moment
Fighting my way through all kind of midi controller categories..
What is best to start with?
I want to do crazy dnb, jungle, breakcore - basically like that badass japan dude :P
basically a lot of amen, think and other breaks :)
A Sampler?
A Synth?
A groovebox?
A Sequenzer?
A drum machine?
A tracker?
Ahhh fuck..
I was recommended some fine stuff, like:
SP404 MKII
MPC One
Dirtywave M8
Elektron Digitakt
Polyend Tracker
But I'm waaaay too broke.
And even if I had the money, I had no clue which one would truly fit me..
my Internet is not complete shit today, so I am loading videos the whole day and am watching one review of a piece after another, as many as possible.. ^^
I think I like the SP404 MKII
aand the M8 (mate), for beginning
they are also the cheapest atm (already used but great condition)
still way too expensive for me :S
due to what I plan, I tend to the sampler
to start getting into making music in general, a tracker might also be an interesting start
but cuz I am broke, I will first try all the least expensive ways..
maybe I will try the headless m8 on a teensy (basically a diy version of the M8 which is cheaper - teensy costs about 50€)
but before that I will try finding some tracker software for my linux laptop, to control with keys or maybe my gamepad?
sunvox looks very interesting and similar to the dirtywave M8 and polyend tracker - just without the hardware
I actually really hope sunvox is a software like that..
then I will just try to imitate the dirtywave m8 with my laptop and gamepad
by mapping keyboard keys for the software onto gamepad buttons :)
at least that's how I imagine it, with sunvox being veeery similar tracker software and the m8 not having many buttons.. ^^ like a gamepad (or gameboy)
:D
this way would be completely free also (I have my laptop, I have an old gamepad - I get the free software)
and there wouldnt be much a difference between holding that little piece and looking at it - or holding a gamepad and looking at a screen :) except the portabiility
in general, I just need something to touch - apart of only keyboard and mouse - I need something to hold, and intuitively play with
or I will probably just get lost in all the modern possibilities of music software..
trackers are also quite old.. maybe you already heard of LSDJ on the GAMEBOY :D
so trackers were actually natively played on "gamepads" to be specific, gameboys ^^
Will be interesting..
I just need some productive hobby for the winter - to not focus on the shit and have some distraction, which I also want to use productively.. in finally starting to make some music.
Which is something I wanted to start years ago..
here is some good breakcore:
you should definetely listen to the track from 18:00min
Breakcore makes me feel like I am waiting for something that never happens.
Breakcore is like when video games lag and the game speeds up to try and catch up.
It feels as though you’ve clawed out an old chunk of forgotten memories and listened to it speak..

He is fucking bad ass!:
I think on some kind of MPC
so I've learned a lot today - took the time for something which interests me for quite some time now.. and I've not only learned about devices but think I also found a good compromise while not needing to spend a cent - I can use stuff I already have
I will report back as soon as I managed to somehow achieve what I have in mind...^^
if you are still here and are also interested in art:
you can have a little look at my digital paintings at @wooka :)
have a nice weekend!
