The Negro Speaks of Rivers

Langston Hughes came to fame back in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 1930s, and much of his poetry focused on the struggles of African American. I enjoy his work because of its strong connection to the blues, both its rhythm and repetition of lines, like in his poem The Weary Blues.
I picked The Negro Speaks of Rivers for its deep, soulfulness, and how effortlessly this poems connects the rich history of Hughes' ancestors.
