Here are my choices:
Tina Turner - "Proud Mary"
Despite having a troubled career and personal life, this phenomenal singer has timeless power (it is omething impossible to explain or understand). This song that I am recommending does not have a music video released as a single, but it does have many live performances that are iconic and this is the best one.
This song breathes female empowerment before it even existed as it has existed over the years (stronger and more courageous... echoed not only by the voices and attitudes of women, but also of many men). The melody has a very exciting growing construction, the lyrics are explosive, the vocals are insanely great and her attitude (as a woman and singer) is surreal.
Twenty One Pilots - "Ride"
I've been following the duo's career for a long time and they always strive to bring something new into the alternative music scene (which usually doesn't have the ambition to fit into just one genre... which I particularly I think it's great, because I like eclectic artists a lot). If you don’t know them yet, it’s good to start now.
This song is a very good way to start listening to their sound, because it has an interesting meaning that can be relatively introspective for many listeners. The sound has a mixture of ideas (there is a lot of personality here) and very good harmonic layers that show a great production process.
