I've had a bit of time on my hands just recently, took a bit of a tumble, and managed to bust my hand up really well -
So as you can see I now have a bit of spare time on my hands, even if one is broken...
Time is fleeting
I have a terrible habit of wasting time, work takes up my day and then I waste even more in front of the goggle box, but the last few days have been different.
Reading...
Paradise, I've always believed, is a good book and a clear sky. You don't get a lot of the former in Glasgow...
So, today I've read about transhumanism, nice theory but as eschatology goes it seems as hopeful and faith based as any other wishful thinking hope for more theory is. Still it has some cool concepts, if anyone is interested look up accelerating returns In technical progression, interesting stuff. Bit utopian and seems to gloss over the fact that matter doesn't get created from nothing so resources being plentiful enough to eliminate need and poverty when 3d printing can be used to produce finite resources and feed the world by just printing ting up food seems a bit vague, never explains where all these resources come from.
Also had the time to catch up with some good newspapers,
I've read about the demise of elephants, female boxers, French presidential elections, local elections, Osama bin laden, and a number of great book reviews.
Part of me thinks we as humans are an amazing mix of scary and downright awesome and it's days like this that makes me feel a real connection to the rest of the world that I don't normally get as it seems to be a wash cycle of work, sleep, fret about my little bubble of life, but sometimes just sitting watching life go by makes you realise how cool things can be.
Blur sang about Parklife, but garden life is quite good too.
Sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other side, it's good enough right here and now
