I wanted to write about the history of our efforts in previous years before I wrote about this year's competition.
So if you have read my previous post you will see we have filmed a horror short film (see part 1). That brought about its own set of challenges, most of which centred round FX and the limited availability of our main female character.
Anyone who participates in 48hfp competitions know that the most nail biting part of it centres around the allocation of the genre, it wasn't the most welcome genre for this one, Romance, but we always commit and give it our all.
I have to honest Romance wasn't a category we looked forward to, but it ended up fun and I think we knocked it out of the park, as you will see later on in the post.
Count on Me
We initially struggled and had a brainstorming session that went on in to the early hours of the morning, but as always we had the idea ready to go into filming the next day. Its always the same with 48hfp, the lead up is a bit nerve wracking, will we get a category we like? Will we get a good idea? Will we get a script together in time? Will we have enough time to film? The anxiety list grows every year and every year we get better at what we are doing.
Brain Storming
Lisa is a dab hand with lights and colour temperature and filming, Craig pulls it all together and is our director.
James is a whizz editor, we saved time editing and filming the next shot, like a production line.
Craig is also a great actor alongside real wife Jen another fine actor, our two characters for count on me -
The guys have an impressive range of equipment that gets more impressive with every competition,
Lights
Camera
Sound
Set up completed and script in hand we ploughed into the filming. An educational experience every time we do it, the gang are multi-talented and multi-skilled and I pick up skills and knowledge with every shoot.
This was a more challenging shoot in that we hear the characters inner thoughts, that was fun, long but fun coming up with multiple ideas and lines of dialogue, we had such a good time we just kept going with it.
We didn't have many breaks but enjoyed the ones we did, Craig and Jen enjoying a well deserved crisp -
The eagle eyed amongst you might have noticed the awards for previous work on the top shelf...
This is towards the end of the night, it was challenging but thoroughly fun and enjoyable, one of those great Saturdays where you go to bed exhausted but know you have done something cool and productive.
We do this for fun and the social aspect of it, but its always nice to be recognised, especially at the awards ceremony...
Craig looking deservedley chuffed because he is a great writer!
Me with the prop award, that's a look of pure unadulterated glee in case you are wondering.
I didn't realise how hard it is to find a piggy bank when you need one...
Okay, you have been patient enough, now the main feature presentation, enjoy, I know we did.
