Funny you should mention surfectants. I was just reading up on whether I really need to fill that "rinse aid" reservoir in the new dish washer. Apparently it's a surfectant. It does seem to make the dishes a lot less spotty.
Did you discover that you got dry faster as well as getting wet faster?
