I didn't know they made a movie out of this book.
God, I remember loathing this book in high school. This and A Separate Peace. I remember thinking they were two of the most self-involved, pretentious, dumbed-down signs of public education's decline and ultimate failure. (And why were they assigning this in 10th grade, when private schools did it in 6th?)
I've wondered recently if I should go back for a re-read, to see if I still hate them as much as I used to.
