Hi there friends! Today I'd love to share with you a very simple lesson that taught me a lot. Me and probobly a lot other people want results fast. That's in a way human nature, you want something and you want it fast. I always thought I had a lot of patience. When I was younger I could spend hours on one drawing and it would be easy.

Then after a few years I switched to digital and for some reason I expected to make illiustations fast and have them look great. Well that's not how it works and it's definately not rocket science to realize that. But I suppose I wasn't the smartest then. When I started digital I wanted results really fast, I didin't spend much time on my illiustrations maybe an hour at most. I felt like I needed to 'catch up' on drawing because I wasn't able to do much before starting digital art. This resulted in me being angry and frustated and resulted in a lot of bad drawings like these :

It didin't took me a long time that I'm not enjoying art anymore. Nothing was coming together, everything seemed to be falling apart, maybe art wasn't for me I thought? I was making so many illiustrations, maybe around 4 a day, I was sure at least one of them would look good right? No, it doesn't work like that. I was getting burnt out, frustrated. I always believe the more you work the better the results are, but I guess it not always true.

The fix was very simple. I just slowed things down, lowered my ambition. I decided to make a photostudy and take my time with it. This was the result of simply taking my time. It seemed my skills came back, I started enjoying myself again.

This simple painting took me 3 days I believe, but I finally made something that actually looked decent and that was a big thing for me.
From then on I like to take my time on the work I do. I don't throw away my sketches or ideas out the windows if they don't look right first time on ( I used to do that all the time). I realized things really do take a lot of time, can't make masterpiece in an hour.

Even currently I have been working on a painting for about a week I'm documenting every little step and I'm having a time of my life.

I am rather hot headed, but luckly I'm a hot headed person who realized things take time, no reason to rush it.
