Growing Together
Hi friends from the global Hive! Today’s post is especially for those of you curious about my daily work in Africa 🇲🇿 – and for anyone who's ever worked closely with someone for years and quietly grown together.
The photos? Just me and one of my longest-running assistants. She’s been working with me for over two years. We’ve grown from “figuring things out” to “one look, no words needed.” 💼💬
Today, we sat with the HR team to talk about how to formally address something most companies dread:
“an underperforming employee” (or in Portuguese, um funcionário com baixo desempenho).
✨ We agreed it’s not about blame — it’s about clarity.
✨ We built a bilingual (Portuguese + English) framework to ensure legal awareness.
✨ And yes, performance feedback must be documented, signed, and followed up.
We believe: real management is helping people see their gaps — and then offering the steps to rise above them.
And this assistant of mine? She’s not just a coworker. She’s a living example of what happens when people are trusted, guided, and seen.
🌱 Some work relationships don’t just last — they grow.
Cheers!
