We all have different learning styles and ways of relating to the world in terms of our senses. I went to university for social services, and in the program I had to take a communication course. In this course we were taught to listen for key words so that we could speak back to that person with the same language and it would help build a connection when working with that person.
For example we could respond to someone that uses a lot of auditory words with " I hear what you are saying" or by comparison someone that uses a lot of visual language we would respond with " I see what you are saying"
All of this is relevant for me because I am a visual person. Having the self awareness to know that I am a visual thinker lets me look at my own thoughts for inspiration.
I journal a lot and often times I have thought that the things I write might make good lyrics because they tend to at times invoke a visual interpretation. Last week I had the idea to pull out a couple things I wrote and make images based off of them.
I created the image above from the words "Falling into my demons". For me it was the idea of giving up, and giving in.
I also used one of the wallpaper designs I created and wrote about in a previous post: https://steemit.com/art/@wildempress/goth-wallpaper-patterns-turned-t-shirts
I love this pencil crayon image! It is not the most beautiful art I have ever made, visually I do not find it all that interesting at all. The thing that I love about this image is that is brings humor to my own personal frustration with life. I do not know what it is about my life, but it seems like every time I feel overwhelmed, I am struggling, and in a sense I feel like I am drowning something way cool and yet totally useless happens to me. What I had written in my journal is that I felt like I was drowning but life just hands me chocolate. When I look at the drawing it makes me smirk at the humor in it and I don't feel quite so frustrated!
I made a vintage styled version of the Falling into Demons that I didn't end up going with but may as well share it
So I am curious to know what you think your learning/thinking style is? Is there one of the senses that stands out for you more than the others?
