CAUTION SEASON 3 SPOILERS
If you read my blog regularly you would know that The Magicians is one of my favorite shows. It just finished airing its 3rd season and I decided to do some fan art inspired by a couple of the twists this season. I mostly do fan art when I am playing around with a new style or technique, this time it is digital collage. I have been super drawn into some of the surreal work done by Catrin Welz-stein and Christian Schloe. Unfortunately it doesn't appear that either of them have posted any behind the scenes, time lapse or tutorials of their work so I don't actually know how they achieve this style or what the process is. So the best way to figure it out is just to experiment and that is what I did!!
Here is the season 3 finale spoiler...Eliot in the very last scene has been taken over by a monster that wants to play. We can tell who the body-jumping monster is by the flash of light that goes through their eyes. So this is my collage attempt at that scene. I am not crazy about it. It turned out less whimsical that I would have liked.
Earlier in the season there is some time-line crossovers and in timeline 23 Quentin has lost his shade and become the beast! It was a huge twist that I didn't see coming, but I loved seeing him as a bad guy for an episode. I like how this collage turned out so much more than my first one!! I used images from pixabay and the moths were public domain vintage illustrations I honestly cannot recall what website I found them on, it was awhile ago. The paper textures I used are all from my own personal library of images, but from looking online, that wouldn't be too hard to find for a free download.
