And it got even better dear reader because these were tunes that matched my crazy eclectic taste in music. I mean come on, starting off with The National????
You need to F up quite a bit to go wrong with me after such an opening.
I mean I am gracelessly honest when I say that they are a personal fav,
And then Sleaford Mods, who featured in one of my latest Midnight Gems, still not sure what I need to think about these guys. But damn I love that UK (Grim) accent.
But it got even better, I actually found some unknown Gems material, which would have fitted last Friday Post Punk Performance very well.
This was my first encounter with this account but I am sold and followed, especially after hearing the Serbian clone of Hole.
Yes, the band of the killer queen of Curt Cobain. If you ask me she killed him for one reason, she wanted to be the girl with the most cake;
But then a true gem was dropped into my lap Lisa O'Neill - Silver Seed. Damn those lyrics and that accent, I freaking got chills down my spine. It reminded me of another crazy cool accent I tripped over looking for new gems last week:
Now I will skip the next song because I have been loud and proud last week and I will do an old fashion Friday Session soon, but trust me that next one was loud.
Still, the end of the post was worth writing home about, first, we got Adi Oasis - Dumpalltheguns followed by Fever Ray who has appeared already twice in My Midnight Gems Sessions.
The new tune Kandy by Fever Ray was peculiar, but peculiar is good, to say the least.
That song really drove me to start deep diving my next Mix-Tape because freaking Freckles it hit home.
So a tip of the veil, next week you will get Kandy and I am pretty sure I will follow it with a bit of Death....
Now I am really impressed with the selection of tunes, but being Dutch I have a couple of remarks.
There are TOO FEW TUNES, I want more!
Secondly, please keep posting this series and do not change your format.
For example, Do Not start creating playlists. That way I still have my own angle ;). Because as per the title I was checking out the competition馃榿.
And you know, I did my check and I found there is none. We both have our own niche as I don麓t look for new tunes, but for beautiful gems. Because those musical gems allow me to cook up a new session for you all each week.
And after doing over a hundred of these sessions I know what my core business is. It麓s giving people a free hand-picked no algorithm-involved mix tape each week.
But I found these new tunes really inspiring and I know how much time is involved in finding those tunes every week.
Now after weeks of not reading and messing up the #stv rules, I think I finally played by
