Sorry to say this but I have some really BAT news for many of you!
If you have been earning BAT tokens using Brave, but do not have a custodial wallet linked to your Brave account, you are about to lose all your BAT tokens.
Brave is planning to stop using the VBAT (virtual BAT tokens), VBAT tokens are whatever you see in your browser.
These tokens are not part of the real supply. They only become part of it when your BAT tokens are sent to your Gemini or Uphold wallet at the end of the month.
Now Gemini only applies to the US and has its fair share of problems, but for users outside of the US Uphold was the place to go.
Although, according to many, it is not their favorite place. It is more like a necessary evil place. If you could go at all. Because Uphold has been listing and delisting many countries over the last couple of years.
If you are in a supported country as per the list below, great! You can KYC and keep earning BAT from Brave. If you are not, or not willing to KYC February is probably going to be the last month you will earn BAT for using the Brave Browser.

The people living in those countries will not only no longer earn BAT, but also lose all the BAT they are holding in their Brave Browser. Well if you know me then you know these next weeks, probably till you get your last bit of BAT in early March, you can use my diabolical deal.
Almost a year ago I found out that many people can not monetize their BAT due to being in a region that was not supported by Uphold, or because they did not want to do the Uphold KYC.
So I came up with this little win/win idea.
It´s very simple if you have no Uphold wallet, you don´t make a cent from the BAT in your Browser. But you can tip a Twitter account or YouTube channel. If you do that, 5% goes to Brave and 95% to the content creator that owns the channel,
Well, and as it happens I had a channel or two to be tipped.
Over the course of this year, I started with little 3-8 BAT deals, of which the person tipping me would get 66,6% in BCH from me. the other 33,3% would be 5% to Brave and 1% for fees. Leaving me with a nice little revenue as well, everybody wins.
Now that little business grew so fast. From 10 BAT in that first month to 260+BAT in December 2022 and all happy customers:

Yes, there is some good news! Although it will not help you get any wealthier from the Brave ads.
That good news is that in a month or two you will see no more screaming babies willing to take your BAT and give you BCH or HIVE for it in return. I will do a little campaign over the next 4 weeks or so to make sure everyone gets a fair chance to monetize the BAT they are still holding in their Brave Browser but after that, BATCoin Baby will hide in the shadows forever.
