Nevertheless, as Christian's, we are guided by scriptures about who we are and our expectations from God, our father!
It may interest you to know why we are to dominate!!

Man was created for dominion at the beginning of Creation according to Genesis 1: 28(please read all scriptures as provided)!
But we lost the right to dominate by the Adamic sin of disobedience at the garden of Eden. But the second Adam, being Jesus, the Christ, restored this right to dominate by His wilful sacrificial Death at the Cross as written in Ephesians 2:5-6 , Ephesians 1: 20-21!!

Our exercise of this dominion is not by our natural ability, but as supernaturally empowered by the Holy Spirit of God!!
