Every town has their fair share of problems, from crime to political bureaucracy. With the uprise of a small religious cult, the town of Hope, Montana's problems just got bigger. This cult is converting its citizens through brainwashing or by force.
Earlier today I got the chance to watch the live reveal trailers for FarCry 5. This game is set in the fictional town of Hope, Montana. A band of siblings who believe that a government collapse is imminent, are trying to convince the town through their religious speakings or by aggressively forcing them to side with them. You play a junior sheriff who is new to the town who ends up taking on the job of bringing the family down and returning the town to how it was.
Not all of the residents are enthusiastic nor willing to allow this family to tear their humble town apart. As far as we know there are at least 3 others that are not going to go down without a fight.
Jerome, a pastor of a church.
Nick Rye, a pilot.
Mary May, the daughter of a bar owner.
From the trailers that were released, it seems that the gameplay will be very similar to FarCry 3. The game is slotted to release in February of next year. With Red Dead Redemption being pushed back til later next year, this game looks to the highlight of 2018. My excitement is exceptional considering I loved all of the FarCry games since the third installment. Wasn't the biggest fan of FarCry Primal but it still had it's merits. With E3 right around the corner, I am looking forward to any more details that will be revealed. Sandbox games like these have always provided great gameplay with the option to follow the main storyline or wander off and to side missions to fill your time. A nice detail that Marty Sliva from IGN was able to give away after actually getting a chance to see the game in action, stated that co-op play through the storyline will be an option from the beginning.
With the implementation of Windows 10, PC gamers and console gamers playing together becoming more viable and the release of Microsoft's Scorpio, 2018 is looking to be a great year for gaming.
