I do not only do it with flowers but almost all things I forget how to name or did not even know how to name. I am glad you were able to find flowers in the zoo despite the large animals and interesting features you saw. I guess you are a good observer which is very essential in photography. To observe little things around you that could make a great impact to people and you. Your father's story and character is so inspiring, he is multi-talented. He must be a good father and taught you things like gardening in your early years. But you forgot. Haha.
