I had yet another memorable weekend as a very close friend of mine invited me to her baby's gender reveal party. I had a very great time with friends as we were all excited to know the gender of our soon-to-be godchild.
Alexine, a close friend of mine from college, announced her pregnancy last April. I was surprised but not that much as we all knew that she will be the first one to have her own family among our circle of friends. When she announced that they will be having a baby with her husband already, I got teary-eyed because I can't explain how happy I was for her. It was her dream to have her own family. She even made a joke before we graduated college, saying that she's ready to marry and bear her own child right after graduation. Such a brave woman!
But before you continue reading, I want you to have a wild guess if it is a girl or a boy and see if you got it right at the end of this post. 😅
The Gender Reveal Party
Last Sunday afternoon, we were all gathered at Beverly View to join the gender reveal party. The venue is located inside Beverly Hills in Lahug, a barangay (Filipino term for village, community, or neighborhood) in Cebu City. Its elevated location allows you to enjoy the view of the city.

We arrived at the venue at around 1:30 in the afternoon and were one of the early birds of the event. Guests started to come 30 minutes later than us. Before the program officially started, there was a drizzle and later, rain poured heavily. But despite the bad weather, the event had to go on.
It was already around 2:15PM when the program started, just in time for some snacks! The emcees, which are also just my friends, gave us the time to enjoy the food as there were snack stalls in the venue. Available food were fries, food on sticks (such as fishballs, hotdogs, and tempura), and ice cream.
There was also a mobile bar in sight, how cool! Although I'm not a fan of alcoholic drinks, I just got a mocktail which they called the Cebu Sunrise. Almost all of my friends got the cocktail which they called Amaretto Sour.
Before the main event of revealing the gender, we played a few games and enjoyed some laughs. The first game was a question and answer type. This game tested how well did the guests know the parents-to-be.
The next game was when the real fun began. It was named the "Suck the Bottle" game. Each player was given a baby bottle filled with beer. The first one to suck all the beer from his/her bottle wins.
Then, two groups were formed for the next game, which was named "The Price is Right".
As its name suggests, each group was to guess the price of the item shown to them by the emcee.
In the end, the group of girls won.
The last game was the funniest. It was the "Poopy Diaper Challenge". I guess you already get how this game works. Each player was given a diaper with peanut butter inside placed on a paper plate, which actually looks like baby poop. To win the game, a player should lick all the peanut butter inside the diaper. We had fun watching the game because each player was eager to win!
And the most awaited part happened – the gender reveal! The parents-to-be went in front. There was a box on the side and it contained the gender of the baby. As they opened the box, my friends popped the confetti which was in the color of the gender of the baby.

Well, for me and most of my friends, we have guessed the gender right. We had the feeling that it would be a boy because of some physical changes we've seen on our friend, Alexine.
It was a very memorable weekend. We all felt blissful as one of our friends step into a new chapter of her life –motherhood. And we can't wait to see her baby and fill him with our love and care and treat him as if our own.
