Square-Enix has a history of making excessive cutscenes. I recall the story for X was pretty solid though, or maybe I am thinking of another. I don't even know what stage we are at with FF because there are so many of them.

I looked, FFX was the last game of the FF universe that I truly loved. A remake of that would be welcome but this is coming from a guy that truly didn't like the 7 remakes. I won't be an early adopter, that's for sure. I learned my lesson there.
