I never really found any of the more advanced potions to be necessary. Having them and trying to use them in battle actually made the game more complicated than I wanted it to be. I think I just made healing potions but honestly don't remember. It was really basic stuff whatever it was and I don't think I ever used most of the advanced recipes. I don't even remember what I purchased at the shops, recipes or something but whatever it was, it didn't necessitate grinding for money or anything like that.
