My Hive Story... What's Yours?

Two of my favorite community members @snook and @shadowspub tagged me to respond to a post of Snook's, how could I decline! :) Here is the post with the questions. @snook/making-my-first-100-downvoteSnook's post

How long have you been on the Blockchain?

I joined Steem (now Hive) in August of 2016 after hearing about it on a pod cast, that described it as a Social Media Platform that respected privacy and returned funds to the end users as opposed to advertisers, I also remember that BTC was mentioned and I was very bitcoin curious at the time. I signed up immediately. The timing was good for me, as I had recently left a heavy duty corporate job and was just getting bored with my new found freedom.

What was your background in cryptocurrency when you first came to the Blockchain?

At the time I joined I did not hold any crypto, but I had heard and read several articles about Bitcoin and I found it fascinating, the main issue I had, was I had no idea how to get involved with Bitcoin, but I was curious, very curious.

What was your background in writing when you first came to the Blockchain?

During my corporate life, formal written communication was always a weakness for me, I find that I am much better at relating to an audience, and expressing thoughts and opinions verbally. Due to corporate influence and other life experience, I've always appreciated straight concise communication and bullet points! :)

How many people did you know when you first came to the Blockchain?

When I joined I did not know anyone on the platform, but even then there were developing communities on various chat apps.

How did you meet people when you first came to the Blockchain?

I landed in SteemSpeak, which was a lot of fun back in the day with a diverse set of people and lively conversations which shaped my understanding of crypto, decentralization and more. It's also where I met both Shadow and Snook as well as many others.

Who did you look up to when you first came to the Blockchain?

Interesting question on the chain I found smooth's comments very interesting, I kind of labeled him as a blockchain philosopher. It was all new concepts for me and in chat I loved hearing Inertia, Nate and Mughat talk about various projects, ideas and why they liked them.

How would you describe your first three months on the Blockchain?

Obsessive, I read all the posts, spent hours listening to conversations in discord and literally could not stop thinking about crypto in general. I have always been an advocate for Freedom and Free Markets, so it was like crypto was made for me, and I was shocked it was out there. I made a lot of posts too, but I didn't find any success for quite some time.

Has being a part of the Blockchain changed you in any way for the good?

I can't imagine my life now without crypto, it's become a part of my life and I will forever be thankful for this project and the doors it opened as well as altering my views on how to achieve freedom and free markets. I also have made a lot of interesting friends and a great network as well.

What is your favorite memory from your time on the Blockchain?

I'm not sure I have a favorite, but the best times for me were the early days, even though I wasn't having much success yet the learning curve and feeling like I had just found something that I didn't know I had lost was incredible.

If you could advise a new person signing up to Hive, what would it be?

Find a community or tribe that you enjoy. Make friends, ask questions, have a support group.
Be patient
Engage, engage, engage..
Stay out of the politics.

And also, get involved in other crypto projects as well.
