I just finished a 6000 pages book titled Percy Jackson. It's a series of 5 different books written by Rick Riordan.

This has been such a journey for me because it took me a month and couple days to finish this series. Majorly because I only read at my leisure time and even at that, I'm not know for my committment at all. I find it hard to stick to one thing for such a long time unless I genuienly enjoy that activity. And as much as I love reading, I'd rather read like 4 different books in a month than stick to one. But THIS BOOK, I just couldn't let go. Even in the middle of the night when I can't sleep, rather than seeing a movie, I'd rather continue reading.

This book now has a movie adaptation by the way, I've seen a couple episodes and while it's a good thriller, it's nothing compare to the rawness of the book.

Now, this article is not a review, if I am to write a review, it'll be a 2000 words article preaching about the epic-ness of the book so no, you already know that. This article however, is me highlighting some of my favorite scenes in the book. I am a lover of sarcasm and this book gave me plenty of that. Despite the fact that this book contained lots of action, suspense and all those details that makes your heart skip one or two beats, it also manages to include scenes that made me burst into a feat of loud laughter in the middle of the night.

Here are some highlights starting with book 1:

Book 1 began with the proper basics. Introducing us to Percy and the other half-bloods, that is; children of the gods and humans which makes them demigods. Percy embarks on a quest to retrieve Zeus lightning master bolt to prevent a war between the three supreme gods: Zeus, Poseidon and Hades.

This scene highlights where Percy somehow unintentionally made water burst out from the toilets which was the first manifestation of his power before he even knew who or which of the gods his father was. Ironically, after such a powerful scene, Percy's sarcastic statement lightens the mood for the readers. You just can't help but laugh while still kept in the suspense of, 'who is his father?'

My favorite character in book 1 is Mr D which is short for Dionysus. lol. He has such a sarcastic non-chalant comeback for every statement. And the way he pretends not to know or care about anyone in the camp is absolutely hilarious.

I must ofcourse mention the beef between Annabeth and Percy. These two would fight even in the midst of war. Now imagine how ironic the ending these two got. Absolutely satisfactory though.

Book 2

Starting off strong with the scene where Grover, Percy's best friend sent a magical distress call to Percy while on his search for Pan, the god of the wild.
As much as one would pity Grover here, his method for distracting the cyclop that wanted to kill him was rather hilarious!

HA HA! Not Chiron dissing his family members, lol.

Tyson's fighting techniques were funny and questionable, but hey, they worked, lol. Tyson was a character introduced in book 2 with strong relations to Percy.

Tyson became my favorite character in book 2. lol.

Now, Book 3

Book 3 and the story was already getting more intense. As if we needed more drama, it intensifies the plotline of Luke's betrayal, the Titan's awakening and the beginning of the fulfillment of the great prophecy.

I did wonder exactly the same thing too, how all of that sentenses was gotten from a single moo but nevertheless, this was a serious situation! I feel like Percy is that friend you must not sit with in class, because he'll make you laugh in serious situations where you are not supposed to laugh.

😂😂 I totally wasn't expecting Percy to take on the fight or audacity to fight a Titan Lord but hey, he did suffer regardless of how courageous that might have been.
Zoe 's death shattered me. And the fact that she was consecrated to the stars, how heart-warming yet sorrowful. I cried.

This scene made me so happy for Grover. You know that feeling when you've been searching for something your life and just in a second, a single simple action brings you closer to finding it. It is fulfilling but at the same time scary.

Book 4

Once again, Tyson shows off his naïve but funny way of describing and analyzing situations, lol.

Strange that even gods need work done on their marriage, lol.

this scene made me anxious but Eurytion's response made me laugh. It was long overdue. That's what bad bosses should get.

I love that book 4 introduces us to the nature spirits because they never really talked about them before.

Only Grover would date a tree and develop a crush on a bush 😂😂

I find it wierd that Hera and Zeus are siblings yet married. Uhm, I guess that's only a gods thing right?

And finally, Book 5

which encompasses the final battle. As serious as this book 5 was because it would determine who lives and who dies, there were still some scenes that made you laugh or shake your head in disbelief
ha ha, how sarcastic!

imagine the chief villain, most terrifying of them all, getting crushed by a butt in the battlefield, lmao.

only Tyson would yell peanut butter before killing monsters.

I'll definite vote for Grover if he runs for president, guy is passionate and honest.

and lastly, the epic scene of Grover fainting in the presence of all the gods after being bestowed a title he deserves AND after surviving the war, lol.

Although, these are just a few highlights, there are so many other scenes I loved but I didn't add them to avoid giving more spoilers than I already have. Now, tell me, have you ever read or watched Percy Jackson, the series. Who were your favorite characters?
