SUPERMOON
Eight days ago on December 3, 2017, we had a full Supermoon. This occurred at the same instant around the world, when the moon was opposite of the sun from earth.
This is a photo that I took of the moon the night before, on December 2, 2017.
And this is a photo that I took of the Supermoon before midnight on December 3, 2017.
The full supermoon was approximately 50,000 kilometers closer to earth than what it is normally. It appears to be 14-15 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a regular full moon, but it is only several percentages larger.
This photo was taken after midnight, which was now December 4, 2017. I thought it would look more interesting taken through the trees.
The Supermoon was at it's highest point in the middle of the night.
The rest of these photos were taken between 3:00- 3:30 A.M. on December 4, 2017.
This supermoon was the first of three supermoons in succession. The second one will be on January 2, 2018. The third supermoon will be on January 31, 2018 and there will also be a total eclipse of the moon on this date.
