Hey frieeends, how are you, I was too long away from the blog for several reasons, travel, work, college again, and other things but finally I'm back. My last post here was last month, and it was about going to a recreational park in Manizales-Colombia, this time it's a weekend in Venezuela, we came back a few days ago and the first thing we did was to go to the beach after a few years without going as a family. Since my brother came back after almost 4 years in another country we have had a full agenda, and with the beginning of my university classes even more.
But here I bring some pictures of my trip to the beach last week, a super cool and different day, although the sun was extremely hot we had a great time.
The day started at 5am approximately, where we woke up to get ready and leave very early, the road from my city to the beach (specifically to Morrocoy National Park), is 2h at a speed of 120km, but we made some stops, to eat empanadas, buy some that we were missing on the road and well maybe the total time was almost 3h, even so the journey is done quickly.
My brother is a bartender in Colombia, so he proposed to buy some liquors to prepare cocktails on the beach (Piña colada, daiquiri and other beach style).
I must say that our initial destination was Isla Larga, a very beautiful beach with crystal clear water and with two ships from the Second World War sunk on the shore, but not knowing the place very well we decided to go to where we have always frequented.

Undoubtedly the best feeling of the trip is the change of climate, and vegetation at the moment we see the rows of palm trees we are glad because we know that the road is getting shorter. For a weekend the road was clear, there were not many people traveling, so we knew it would be ideal as the beaches would be lonely.
When we were at the pier we asked about the cost of the boats to the islands, which are the best kept beaches and with the most crystalline waters of the park, there are too many islands that are used for tourism, Playuela Key, Mero Key, Hat Key, Las Animas Island, among others. The initial cost on the board of the pier was $80 to Mero or Playuela keys, which for my taste are both very good, however, as in any tourist place, the locals inflate the prices to see who is willing to pay it. My brother as a good negotiator, made a deal with the owner of the boat and we agreed that the trip would be $55, $60 with the parking place.
This was a better deal by far, and the island is not very far, probably 20min one way and 20 min back.
So we started to unload the stuff and went to the pier to leave early for the islands, the sun was already very hot on the way, too hot and smelling of the sea.
One little funny thing, and at the same time I feel bad but I couldn't stop laughing was my mom's face in the boat, she is afraid of the sea and she was too scared but she didn't want to say it.
Undoubtedly the daytime road is always the best, there are not many waves, the water is calm and with the reflection of the sun you can see a very intense and beautiful blue, besides seeing the mangrove type vegetation along the way.
The best of all is the entrance to the island, it is a very narrow entrance with vegetation on both sides and two piers, it is really amazing and it was the first time we visited it.
Upon arrival we rented an awning, which seemed to me the most expensive thing of the trip considering what it is, 20$ basically an umbrella with 3 chairs no more and no less, and these are located in the best part of the beach, it is as if the owners took over a piece of beach and no one can bring their own umbrella, and if that is the case you have to place it behind. This was what upset me the most.
But at least we had an incredible view of the sea, we had shade from a small tree and we were in the center of the island, so that was the positive.
It was time to explore and walk around the island a bit, we found crabs, chitons, sea urchins and other things, the island is not very big and the part where we were is the best, without rocks and sand to walk to the coral reef which is the one that prevents the waves here.
Bartender moment, my brother prepared a piña colada for my mom, a daiquiri for me, and a passion fruit margarita for my cousin. Honestly with that strong sun, it was the most refreshing thing we had.
We also bought some oysters, 3 dozen for 10$, we bought ceviche with shrimp and squid for 15$ and there were other products.
After a full day at the beach, literally almost without getting out of the water, the last swim was at 4pm, since the return time was at 5pm, and despite the intense sun we had a great day, of course with lots of sunscreen and long garments to avoid getting burned.
On the way back the sea was much more agitated and we found an endless number of boats, I think all the other islands were full, however in ours there were not so many people, but by the amount of boats it is seen that the rest if. We found a big boat and went back.
This was my Saturday at the beach, with my family I had 2 years without going to the beach, but my mom, my dad and my brother had 5 years approximately and it was a family reunion again after so long.
