Good morning community of gems, yesterday I returned from a trip to the countryside and I wanted to bring you a very rare fruit, as we are in the time where you can harvest once a year, it is "Data" as it is called throughout the area of Lara and parts of Falcon, it is a fruit that grows in the Cactus (Cardones), and is very sweet with an unpleasant appearance, but in the center is similar to a strawberry, as it has seeds inside and are edible.
Buenos días comunidad de gems, ayer regrese de viaje del campo y quise traerles una fruta muy poco común , ya que estamos en la época donde se pueden cosechar 1 vez al año, se trata de "Datos" como se le llama en toda la zona de Lara y partes de Falcón, es una fruta que crece en los Cactus (Cardones), y es muy dulce con aspecto poco agradable, pero en el centro es similar a una fresa, ya que tiene semillas dentro y son comestibles.
In other areas of Venezuela it is also known as Yaguarey or Dates, but basically they are the same fruit with different flavor in each region, for example in Lara the flavor is sweeter and juicier, while in Falcon I feel that it is a little more citric and dryer.
En otras zonas de Venezuela también se le conoce como Yaguarey o Dátiles, pero básicamente son la misma fruta con diferente sabor en cada región, por ejemplo en Lara el sabor es mas dulce y jugoso, mientras que en Falcón siento que es un poco mas cítrico y mas seco.
This fruit usually occurs in the rainy season, in the months of May-June, as long as it rains, if it does not rain the cactus does not flower and there is no data harvest.
The flower of the cactus, is pollinated by the bees and at the moment of absorbing water begins its transformation. It changes from an elongated shape similar to a flower before opening, to a round shape, and with the days start to grow thorns around it.
Esta fruta suele darse en épocas de lluvia, en los meses de Mayo-Junio, siempre y cuando llueva, si no llueve los cactus no florean y no hay cosecha de datos.
La flor del cactus, es polinizada por las abejas y al momento de absorber agua comienza su transformación. Cambia de una forma alargada similar a una flor antes de abrir, a una forma redonda, y con los días comienzan a crecer espinas por su alrededor.

This fruit can have different colors, for example in my life I have seen data of red, white, purple, pink, yellow, orange, among others. Opening a data is like a lottery, you do not know what color you played, although when we see the shell we always imagine two colors, if the shell is red the center is red, and if the shell is a shade of green the center is white, the other colors are not so visible until you open them.
Esta fruta puede tener diferentes colores, por ejemplo en mi vida he visto datos de color rojo, blanco, purpura, rosado, amarillo, naranja, entre otros. Abrir un dato es como una lotería, no sabes que color te tocara, aunque al ver la cascara nos imaginamos siempre dos colores, si las cascara es roja el centro es rojo, y si la cascara es de un tono verde el centro es blanco, los demás colores no son tan visibles hasta abrirlos.
The way to harvest data, is with a kind of tool called "Datera", basically is a rod of 2mts or more high, where the tip is shaped like a fork so to speak, so you can hook the fruit without damaging it and thus bring it to the ground to remove its thorns.
La manera de cosechar datos, es con una especie de herramienta llamada "Datera", básicamente es una vara de 2mts o mas de altura, donde en la punta se le da forma de tenedor por así decirlo, de modo que pueda enganchar el fruto sin dañarlo y así traerlo al suelo para poder remover sus espinas.

This fruit is not poisonous, nor does it cause any allergies, despite its strange appearance with thorns, it is very delicious, and contains many electrolytes.
Although humans consume it, there are many birds that also feed on it.
Esta fruta no es venenosa, ni causa alguna alergia, a pesar de su aspecto extraño con espinas, es muy deliciosa, y contiene muchos electrolitos.
A pesar que los humanos la consumen, hay muchas aves que también se alimentan de ella.
