Ive slowly been winding my garden vegetable patch down, getting ready to "over winter" it. Most of the summer veg has long gone and now I'm left with cleaning up and saving the seeds ready for next year.

So as a little treat for 1/2pint , i dug up a few carrots, knowing we could stop on the way home from school to feed the horses.

He was very excited when I told him we would be stopping on the way home to feed the horses as he knew we would be using the carrots he helped to sow and grow all those weeks back.

Were very lucky that we live in such a green part of the country where horses roam free across the "common" ground. So it was just a case of pulling in to a layby and, if you have young children, calling out the universal noises for calling horses:

"coommmmme ooooon" & "horssssseeeeeeee"!

(go on admit it, you were secretly calling them in you're head reading that out??)

It didn't take long before we were surrounded by Welsh mountain pony's. Not a very big breed of horse, they were used for pulling coal carts through the mines, so we're bread to be short, stocky and very muscular.

As you can see, the pony's here are not backwards at coming forward, and 1/2pint was loving the attention.

Luckily we didn't lose any fingers(this time)..... It didn't take long before they munched their way through the carrots then started to hound us for more!

It definitely was a different way to end a school day.

Note to self: take more carrots next time.
