Today on #wolrdcoinwednesday I'll be showing off what I think is one of the best looking silver coins in the world. I don't know what it is, maybe it's just the simplicity of its design, by the Canadian silver Maple leaf does float my boat.
I went for a sort out through the small stack I keep laying around the house, and found this tube of 2018 Maples.
The Canadian Maple is one of the purest silver coins you can buy on the market. They show the famous 4 9's (9999) on the face, where other world coins only promise to be 999 fine silver..... Sounds petty, one onethousandth can make all the difference. Lol
The Canadian Maple has some nice little features which make it difficult to "fake". The background on both sides includes radial lines for security against counterfeiting. The reverse also has a micro-laser engraved maple leaf privy that features 18 at the center of the privy, and it is only visible under magnification. All 1 oz Maple Leaf coins from the Royal Canadian Mint now also feature Bullion DNA. This additional form of security takes that micro-engraving and encodes, scans, and records it at the mint for future authentication.
One of the key benefits of Maple Leaf 1oz silver coins is that they are recognized worldwide and can therefore be bought and sold almost anywhere. Furthermore, the coin contains .9999 of fine silver which is a high purity level for a silver coin. In addition, the Silver Maple Leaf has a relatively low premium for a 1oz silver coin.
No other investment coin on the market has the leading edge security features of Maple Leaf silver coins. Bullion products produced by the Royal Canadian Mint are world class and of the highest quality.
The Maple Leaf 1oz Silver Coin has a diameter of 38 mm, a thickness of 3.29 mm and a nominal value of 5 CAD. Due to the high fineness of 999.9/1000, it should be noted that the coin is very sensitive to scratching, but since these are bullion coins, they are kept for their silver content and value and not their numismatic cost.
