This post will explain what makes WellsForAll unique. If you value on-chain transparency, then you’re in luck – because we are handing you the tools to check each of the claims we’ve ever made.

Three Words changed how we operate

“Trust me.”

These three Words represent nearly every charitable plea across the globe. “Trust” that your donation reached its intended destination. “Trust” that those donations were used responsibly. And “trust” that the project existed, the figures were accurate, and the positive impacts truly occurred.

We believe that trust should be earned, not requested. Therefore, from the moment @WellsForAll launched, we based our operations on a different philosophy — one this community has come to know well:

Don’t trust. Verify.

Each of our 25 boreholes were created using public funding via community vote and permanently recorded on the hive blockchain. Not summarized within an annual report. Not presented in PDF format. Permanently recorded — on-Chain, timestamped, and therefore irrevocably altered after the fact.

In this article, I’m going to demonstrate exactly how we achieved this, and then I’ll provide a step-by-step guide on how to verify any of our projects yourself. No inside knowledge needed. Simply a web browser.

Step 1 — it starts with a public proposal

Charities traditionally use closed-door fundraising methods. A grant application here. A private donor there. A board meeting you’ll likely never attend.

We used the opposite approach. Each of our WellsForAll boreholes began as a public proposal — publicly accessible, readable by anyone, questionable by anyone, providing documentation of what was proposed prior to raising even a single cedi.

Therefore, the funding discussion occurs in the open. Anyone can view the proposal. Anyone can challenge it. Anyone can review what was committed to in writing prior to work commencing. Once established, we can’t retroactively rewrite history — since the original is already on-Chain.

Step 2 — the community decides, not a committee

Hive fundamentally alters the traditional method.

Most social media platforms have small groups of gatekeepers that determine which projects receive funding. Hive provides a decentralised platform for support to be provided by the people — through voting.

Every vote represents a public action. Every unit of support is recorded. When a WellsForAll proposal is supported, both the support is visible and trackable. No backroom deals exist. No opaque decision-making processes occur. The same community that supports wells also has visibility over where those wells are located.

Decentralisation accomplishes something tangible — rather than simply transferring tokens around, clean water is delivered into a village.

Step 3 — the permanent on-chain record

This is the component that is most relevant to WellsForAll and is unattainable by virtually all traditional charities.

When information is placed onto the Hive blockchain, it cannot be modified, dated forward, or removed by me, by WellsForAll, or by anybody else.

Therefore, when we create a project proposal, a budget outline, a status report on our progress, or a completion report, that record remains indelible. If we state that borehole #18 cost a particular amount, that figure is fixed in time. If we indicate that a community would receive clean drinking water at a certain point in time, that statement is marked on-chain forevermore.

We cannot quietly adjust an unsavoury statistic. We cannot eliminate a project that failed. The blockchain binds us to each and every statement — and that is why we elected to utilise it.

Transparency is not merely a value that we discuss; it is a characteristic of the system upon which we constructed WellsForAll.

How to verify yourself — in less than two minutes

Do not accept anything we say without verification. Below is how you may verify:

Access our account. Go to https://peakd.com/@WellsForAll or @mcsamm, where our journey began.
Review any borehole post. Select any project — any project. Review the proposal, the budget document, the photos, and the completion report.
Confirm the date/time stamp. Every post includes the exact date and/or time it was added to the blockchain. The date/time stamp cannot be fabricated.
Follow the funding trail. Determine if any post(s) related to funding are associated with your chosen project and follow the votes/rewards on any post(s). See all support for that project — publicly recorded.

That is it. Within a short period of time sufficient to brew a cup of coffee, you may independently confirm that WellsForAll is precisely as advertised. Good luck finding similar verifications for most charities.

Why does this matter for hive?

There is another story regarding blockchain being misunderstood in the wider world. They see speculation, hype, and nonsense. However, they do not see what this community sees.

@WellsForAll serves as proof of the alternative story. It serves as evidence that a blockchain may fund actual physical infrastructure, provide accountability for an organization, and provide clean water to individuals who previously had none — all while maintaining every piece of historical data as publicly available and immutable.

With each instance in which someone verifies one of our boreholes, they are not only verifying us — they are witnessing what Hive enables. On-Chain transparency does not exist as an abstraction in this case; it exists due to this enabling functionality.

Story worth re-sharing

We hope to witness a future where every organization requesting public funding uses identical methodologies — full proposals; public determination of support; permanent records of activity and expenditures. No “trust me.” Only “verify.”
