So I'm new to Steemit, and there are a few things that make pretty much no sense to me. If this is supposed to be a community based on creative and interesting content, it seems a little backwards to me that you can:
a) Upvote your own content and make money off of it. (do you then get rewarded for both curation and posting?) I mean, if you contributed the material is it not obvious that you think it's good content?! How is this a thing?
b) Have bots that upvote anything and everything whether it's decent content or not just because you signed up for it.
These are the two things that have boggled my mind in the short time I've been a part of the platform. I admit that it has in fact been a very short time and I don't understand a lot of it. If I'm missing something here, please feel free to comment and let me in on how things actually work. Just seems a little backwards to me. Thanks for any information you can give to make sense of it all.
