what UP everyone!
alright so i hopped on an airplane and flew to brazil.
the homie was there with his pops to greet me at the airport.
i didnt have my phone handy but he was standing there holding up a sign he drew on his ipad that said SKATEHIVE QUEEN with a picture of the skatehive logo lol.
The first thing i noticed when we got in the car and started cruising was the cool architecture. i still want to learn more about it. the hills of rio are covered in what are called favelas which are like "slums" but they look really cool. they are like hand made brick and cinder block forts, that people live in for free. i guess the deal is, they dont have to pay taxes if their home is "unfinished" so they just leave them like that so they dont have to pay taxes. its kind of a cool off-the-grid vibe. the legit buildings are old ones the spanish built and modern-looking condos that actually kind of look like the favelas in color, and the shapes they use. i still need to confirm this theory. it would be cool to go to an architecture museum here.
Vlad's parents are super nice. it was awesome meeting them i just wish i could speak Portuguese to them. but his mom and i were talking using the google translator. his dad and i just talk to each other in the separate languages and have no idea what each other is saying but we use facial expressions and stuff to communicate haha.

We got a super good Açai bowl by the beach. they mix into the Açai what is called Guaraná (gwarana) which is a slightly caffeinated fruit that grows in the amazon.
it makes the flavor slightly different from what im used to and i think its way yummier. This is not the same fruit as what they use to make "guava paste" which is like a thick gel of guava that we had with cheese which is called "romeo and juliet"
The scene from his parents condo is so sick
ive never had bananas as good as these. they probably grow them here. i will check out a fruit market today.
check out this little red crab. the water is freshwater that goes into the ocean. its what we were riding the taxiboat on. the homie is a taxi-boat driver and we got to ride around with him as he picked up customers. it was so cool. there are all these little islands people live on which require a boat to go anywhere from.
Pedro pointed out this crane bird that had this crazy beak mutation like a platapus where his beak turned flat at the end and he said it was because the bird ate one of those red crabs lol.
