The indian counterpart to this picture/symbol could be related to the "Lord Krishna" and The Venomous 1000 headed snake named "Kaliya". Krishna successfully defeated it and send it back to Patal lok back to "Vasuki" Lord of snakes, and asked him not to return. I am not certain that the story is absolutely related to this but just a speculation. Thank You.
