Casa Foresta
Our last trip up in Northern Thailand, my sister volunteered to find a nice place to stay for us in Nan Province. She booked Casa Foresta, a resort hidden in a little forest just a few minutes drive out of the Nan city. It's quite convenient and I was surprise that just a little out of the city, we can get this kind of green scenery! so yes, it was a good choice! Each room has small yet fancy little hut for its own. All you need is in there and each one even has its own parking spot! That's one of the most well thought I have seen yet in a lot of places I have stayed at.
Monka Cafe
Besides a reception and breakfast area, there's another small building right in front of the property. The resort's coffee shop, Monka Cafe. I didn't expect much from it and was just thinking it's just their side business along with their resort but wasn't I so wrong! I later found out that a lot of review sites online come here even just for the coffee and dessert here.
Next morning, I had a chance to visit Monka Cafe before leaving the place. It's small yet charming and yes, professional. Inside, decorated most minimal and just a tv screen showing menu items and what they feature. Quite a wide variety of drinks and dessert to choose from. One thing I like, and need to point out is there, there are choices of coffee roasts which is not that common in Thailand really. Dark roast, medium roast or light roast. Most places just go with dark or medium dark roast as it's a little less costly. Here, at Monka cafe, you choose whichever you'd like and the lighter roast, you just pay a little extra.
I of course went for their Thai Northern origin (as we're traveling up north!) light roast. Quite nice and refreshing. Pair with a cup of cold cocoa because by sister boyfriend was impressed by it so I wanted to try. Indeed, quite dark and intense so that was a good one as well.
A small little cafe a little out of town but gotta get those nice cups of drink with a great air surrounded by all these greens.
Too bad we didn't get to try their dessert as it was way too early in the morning but.. Love it and would totally recommend anyone to visit when in Nan province.
