Chilling by a river, hanging out with buffalo (not really but kinda), refreshing coconutty ice-cream.. if that sounds good, maybe you'd like to keep scrolling a little more.
A few weeks ago, my family has a chance to take a roadtrip together. We decided to go for the closest freshest seafood spot which was Samut Songkhram province. Then, after the savory, we want some sweet and someone in the fam just recommend this awesome place, 'The Buffalo Caf茅'
The Buffalo Caf茅 not just have one of the best view around. Super spacious and breezy. It's nice to just walk around enjoying the atmosphere but hey, they got some hidden gem too!
I love Khao Chae. This might not be common kind of dish or not as popular as Phad Thai or Tom Yum. It's even hard to find for a local like myself. It's one of my favorite snacks ever!
Khao chae means 'rice soaked in cool water'. Not a regular water but it's flower-scented water. In my opinion, using Jasmine rice is best! Eat together with shrimp paste balls, stuffed shallots, Shredded sweetened beef or pork and Stir-fried sweet pickled Chinese turnips with eggs.

I normally eat it like that and that's how it usually is. Though, this place came up with this awesome idea. They give a a little twist by turning that soaked rice to coconut ice-cream with flower-scent. Then eat it with other side dishes like you would with the soaked rice. Pretty unique, taste great and even more refreshing if you ask me.
From its name 'The Buffalo Caf茅', probably gives you a very good hint of how buffalo-y the place would be. Let's just start with some actual buffalos laying around waiting for you to take photos or hang out with them. (not really, I think they're just bored. #lol)
2 of them in total. One with a regular color and the other one is somewhat white/lighter color where in Thailand we call them 'Taro Buffalo'. They're rare but yup, you can find one here at The Buffalo Caf茅 !
Other buffalo-y things you can find around the place. The place is HUGE! When you walk in, which they call this whole thing 'Buffalo Walk' by the way. A big Buffalo sign right there welcoming you since far far away.
At a restaurant, a good looking Thai inspired kind of building.. pretty sure they don't serve buffalo meat but that's ok! Decorations all around still pretty buffalo-y anyways. What about those caution sign with buffalo horns on human head, and a buffalo no smoking area sign, plus a few woven buffalo objects looking cute all over the place. #intense I know...
Unfortunately we haven't actually tried any other of their food but just the fact that how chill the area, how pretty the view and how nice the atmosphere is. This is for sure the spot you need to come hang out with beloved ones like I did with my fam.
Buffalo theme with really a lot of thing buffalo-y, is also super cool. Even a few real buffalos there! Kids would love it!
The Khao Chae is also one of the highlight and for sure I would love to go back just for that dessert.
So yup, I sure recommend you visit if you ever have a chance to go visit Samut Songkhram province.
