I spent many years of my life addicted to heroin and when I couldn't get heroin I would take what ever I could to make the pain of withdrawal go away but even before I knew that pain I would take and do anything.
So what got me in the path to where I would end up shooting up in a Mcdonnalds bathroom?
Legal drugs, pain killers like Vicodin, Percocet and Oxycotin! These legal pain killers I came to find out were so much worse than the real deal white horse heroin could ever be.
Pain pills are legal and can't be all that bad I thought to my self as I downed them almost every weekend and that turned into weekdays them everyday. Once heroin popped up on the scene it was no question that I would try that. Snorting it at first for awhile until a friend convinced me to shoot it. After that point I would be on a roll shooting it mixed with cocaine (speedball) and once I could get it I would jump back to pain pills.
The funny thing is the withdrawal from heroin was not as bad as the pain pills! The worst of all was methadone. That might be one reason people stay on methadone for so long.
I still have friends that go to the methadone clinic daily. It's good for some I guess but it was no way for me to live.
Anyways the gateway is pain pills.
Good luck
