Food Additives
Food additives have been used for centuries to enhance the appearance and taste of food and also preserve food for some time. But does this additive provide health benefits that are good for our body or even damage our health in the long run?
Modern diseases that have sprung up since the 20th century are diseases that stem from the weakening of the body's resistance and lack of nutritional intake due to pollution, stress, and an instant lifestyle.

List of Hazardous Food Additives
Some food additives have been known through research and scientific studies to harm human health. Here is a list of food additives that we should avoid:

  1. Artificial sweeteners
Aspartame, (E951) better known as Nutrasweet and Equal, is found in foods labeled "diet" or "sugar free". Aspartame is believed to be carcinogenic (substances that trigger cancer cells) and cause adverse effects / adverse reactions such as dizziness, headaches, migraines, and seizures. Avoid if you suffer from asthma, rhinitis (hayfever included), or urticaria (hives). Found in a sugar-free diet, sugar-free soft drinks, gum, cereals, chewing vitamins, even toothpaste.

  2. High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFSC) / High Fructose Corn Syrup
HFCS is a very fine artificial sweetener that has become the number one source of calories in America. It is found in almost all processed foods. HFCS can increase levels of LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), and contribute to the development of diabetes and tissue damage, as well as other adverse side effects. Found in most processed foods, breads, candy, yogurt, salad dressing, canned vegetables, cereals.

  3. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
MSG is an amino acid from the sugar processing process that is used as a flavor enhancer in almost every dish and processed food such as snacks, instant noodles, etc. Studies show that regular consumption of MSG can cause side effects which include depression, disorientation, eye damage, fatigue, headaches, and obesity.

  4. Trans Fat / Trans fat
Trans Fat is used to increase and extend the life of food products and is one of the most dangerous substances you can consume. Many studies show that trans fat increases the level of LDL cholesterol while lowering HDL cholesterol levels (good), increases the risk of heart attack, heart disease and stroke, inflammation, diabetes and other health problems. Found in margarine, chips and crackers, baked goods, fast food.

  5. Food coloring
Studies show that artificial dyes found in soda drinks, bottled fruit juices and snacks can cause behavioral problems in children and result in a significant IQ reduction. Animal studies have found that food coloring can cause cancer.
    Blue # 1 and Blue # 2 (E-133)
Banned in Norway, Finland and France. Can cause chromosomal damage. Found in sweets, cereals, soft foods and drinks, sports drinks and pet foods
    Red # 3 (also Red # 40 & E124)
It was banned in 1990 after 8 years of debate and used in many foods and cosmetics. These dyes continue to be on the market until supplies run out! It has been shown to cause thyroid cancer and chromosomal damage in laboratory animals, it can also interfere with brain nerve transmission. Found in fruit cocktails, ice cream, candy, bread, and many other food products.
    Yellow # 6 (E110) and Tartrazin Yellow (E102)
Banned in Norway and Sweden. Increasing the number of kidney and adrenal gland tumors in laboratory animals, can cause chromosomal damage. Found in cheese, macaroni and cheese, candy and carbonated drinks, lemonade and many other food products.

  6. Sodium sulfite (E221)
Preservatives used in processed foods. According to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), about one in 100 people are sensitive to sulfides in food. Most individuals with asthma, show an association between asthma and sulfide. Sulfide-sensitive individuals may experience headaches and breathing problems. In severe cases, sulfide can actually cause death by closing the respiratory tract and causing a heart attack.

  7. Sodium nitrate
A general preservative that is usually added to processed meats such as burger meat, ham, hot dogs, and corned beef. Studies have suggested the side effects of sodium nitrate cause various types of cancer.

  8. BHA and BHT
Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) and Hydrozyttoluene Butyl (BHT) are chemical preservatives found in snacks, chewing gum, potato chips, and vegetable oil and margarine. This chemical preservative can prevent food from changing color, changing taste or becoming rancid. BHA and BHT can cause cancer, and many countries have limited or even prohibited the use of these additives.

  9. Sulfur Dioxide
Sulfur dioxide additives are toxic (poison) and in the United States, the FDA has banned the use of raw fruits and vegetables. This substance can trigger asthma attacks, bronchitis, even heart problems.

  10. Potassium Bromate
