How to stop bad habits and replace them with good

How to break bad habits

Here are some additional ideas to stop your bad habits and think about the process in a new way.

Choose a replacement for your bad habits. You must have a previous plan to find out how you will respond when you face stress or boredom that drives your bad habits. What will you do when you get the urge to smoke? (Example: breathing exercises instead.) What will you do when Facebook calls you to delay? (Example: write one sentence to work.) Whatever it is and whatever you face, you must have a plan for what you will do, not your bad habits.

Cut as many triggers as possible. If you smoke when you drink, then don't go to the bar. If you eat cake while at home, throw it all away. If the first thing you do when you sit on the couch is to take the TV remote, then hide the remote in a closet in a different room. Make it easier for you to stop bad habits by avoiding things that cause them.

At present, your environment makes your bad habits easier and good habits are increasingly difficult. Change your environment and you can change the results.

Join someone. How often do you try dieting privately? Or maybe you "quit smoking" ... but you keep it for yourself? (That way no one will see you fail, right?)

Instead, pair up with someone and stop together. Both of you can be mutually responsible and celebrate your victory together. Knowing that others expect you to be better is a strong motivator
